Iffet Ozgonul Owner and Director
Despite her initial studies in physics and engineering, Iffet Ozgonul followed her passion for history, art and culture. Heading back to the classroom to study archaeology and art history, she eventually became a professional tour guide. She set up Peten Travels in 1997 with the determination to provide Turkey with travel programs and services that surpassed the ordinary. She stopped personally leading tours and devoted herself to study and exploration. She found off-the-beaten-track roads and paths into many hitherto unknown areas in Turkey, searching out the unique sites where history was made, while developing and mapping new tour itineraries. In the meantime she also developed an impressive library of books and materials that she is always happy to share with others who share her passion for history and archeology. Her itineraries (sometimes copied but never matched) and her careful insight into traveler needs and desires have made Peten Travels the choice of special travelers who are looking for in-depth travel and experiences. Never satisfied, she continues to seek out new and interesting destinations, accommodations, food experiences, and activities, all backed by her meticulous research. Besides her love of travel and reading, she enjoys trekking, hiking and listening to Turkish folk and western classical music.

Not only does she manage the office, she is the true pillar of everything the company represents. A mathematical whiz, she calculates all the tour quotations, making sure the traveler gets the best possible services and deals. She loves driving, music, swimming, cooking and is currently in school working of a Masters in Business.

The ten to fifteen guides we call upon annually are each true professionals, committed to providing our clients with the best travel experience possible. We respect all our travelers and give them personal attention, making sure that they have the most memorable and enriching holidays.
We also call upon specialists and experts come from a wide range of backgrounds and fields, among them professors, authors, botanists, history buffs, gourmands and art lovers. They help design and accompany many of our tours and their input makes our tours especially valuable.
