The specialist in archaeological tours, traditional yacht cruises and private charters in Turkey, Greece and Sicily. In 1994, archaeologist and film-maker, Peter Sommer, walked 2,000 miles across Turkey, retracing the route of Alexander the Great, and in the process fell in love with the country, its people, and its ancient civilizations. Since 1996 he has run Peter Sommer Travels, a UK-based tour operator, taking small groups on archaeological tours in Turkey, Greece and Sicily.

Small Groups
Peter Sommer Travels takes only small groups (maximum 16 on land, 14 by sea) of like-minded people, traveling in an easy-going, friendly, and informal style. Their expertise stems from an especially intimate knowledge of these countries – their geography, history, people, and much more.

Over the past ten years, Peter Sommer Travels has created a rich and varied collection of escorted cultural tours - archaeology tours and cruises with a difference. Their tours bring to life the rich heritage of these countries from profoundly ancient times to the modern era. Private Charters
In addition to their scheduled tours, Peter Sommer Travels also organize yacht charters for private groups - from small families looking for a boat with only a couple of cabins to larger groups on boats with up to 12 cabins. They can create a tailor-made itinerary just for you and, if you so wish, arrange for one of their enthusiastic and knowledgeable guides to accompany you and bring the region’s history to life.

    Reservation Policy

    A deposit of £400 per person is required upon reservation. The balance of the cost must be paid 8 weeks before the scheduled start. If booking 8 weeks or less from the scheduled start, payment must be made in full.

    Cancellation Policy

    If you wish to cancel your booking you must do so in writing. You will then be subject to the following cancellation charges. For cancellations received:
    • More than 56 days before departure: The penalty is equal to the deposit, per person.
    • 56-31 days prior to departure: The penalty is equal to 50% of the total cost, per person.
    • Within 30 days of departure: Subject to 100% cancellation penalties.

    If you do not pay the balance of the cost of the holiday two calendar months before departure, Peter Sommer Travels reserves the right to cancel your booking. Where a refund is payable there will be an administrative fee of $60/£30 per person.
