In 1994, Peter Sommer walked 2,000 miles across Turkey, retracing the route of Alexander the Great, and in the process fell in love with the country, its people, and its ancient civilizations.
A British archaeologist, film maker, and highly experienced tour guide, Peter created Peter Sommer Travels in 1996, offering unique escorted tours and cruises in Turkey. A UK-based specialist travel operator, they provide a select number of holidays and vacations with a professional and above all personal touch. All their archaeology tours are personally led by Peter.

Payments Accepted
Reservation Policy
A deposit of $800/£400 per person is required upon reservation. The balance of the cost must be paid two calendar months before the scheduled start. If booking two calendar months or less from the scheduled start, payment must be made in full.
Cancellation Policy
If you wish to cancel your booking you must do so in writing. You will then be subject to the following cancellation charges. For cancellations received: - More than 56 days before departure: The penalty is equal to the deposit, per person.
- 56-31 days prior to departure: The penalty is equal to 50% of the total cost, per person.
- Within 30 days of departure: Subject to 100% cancellation penalties.
If you do not pay the balance of the cost of the holiday two calendar months before departure, Peter Sommer Travels reserves the right to cancel your booking. Where a refund is payable there will be an administrative fee of $60/£30 per person.
